My ten-year-old adopted child made a Mother’s Day card for me at school. I have posted a picture of part of the card where he says,
Thank you for adopting me. Thank you for all the stuff you do for me.
I confess I was taken aback by his “thanking” me for adopting him, but I did not let him know this. I told him how much I loved the card and the presents. (He bought me fake roses and a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup from the Dollar Store with his own money), and I sincerely meant it. Nevertheless, I was surprised that the first thing that came to mind to put in a Mother’s Day card was “thanking” me for adopting him.
